微软将要在3月发布Windows Server(代码名Longhorn Server)的一个CTP版本，之后会发布Beta 3 。即将到来的CTP将会是首个公开里程碑，它会广泛向合作伙伴和消费者发布 。微软悄悄在12月向受选合作伙伴发布了一个CTP，之前微软就曾经说过要在2007年上半年发布Beta 3 。
现在，Windows Vista和Office 2007已经发布了，微软正在将中心转向它的服务器产品，也就是Windows Longhorn Server 。三月CTP有望在3月7日发布，Longhorn整合了虚拟化管理程序、增强的分支办公及与Vista整合的支持 。
